36 Week Journal...
How far along? 36 wks today... 4 weeks until his due date, 1 more week until he's considered full-term. We'll see when he decides to show up...
Total weight gain/loss: 8.5 lbs above target at last check
Maternity Clothes: I'm looking forward to normal non-pregnancy clothes, just in time for spring/summer too
"Morning" Sickness: N/A
Signs of Pregnancy: Braxton Hicks Contractions, aches in my hips, groin pain, bloody nose, dry skin
Stretch Marks: I'm up to 7 stretch marks
Sleep: Sleep hasn't been bad at all, it's when I try to get out of bed or really switch positions that suck because my hips & groin areas scream in pain. I've began using my arms & elbows to get me up & out, otherwise it's a bit tough
Best moment this week:
*My Birthday - I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you for the birthday wishes & presents, they are most appreciated
*My massage
*Getting my new camera & playing with it
Worst moment this week: Very late Wednesday night (around 11:45pm on my birthday), I was listening to Alexander and he was very still and his heartrate was a lot lower than the desired rate. So I ended staying up for most of the night either listening to him or trying to make him move around. That made for a very crappy Thursday. It must have been a VERY long nap because come Friday morning he was back to his normal self with a normal heartrate and normal movement.
Movement: It feels a lot like squirming and he kicked my ribs for the first time
Gender prediction: He's a BOY - Alexander Christopher
Labor Pains: Braxton Hicks Contractions
Belly Button in or out? Still in
Wedding rings on or off? On & loose
What I'm going to miss/What I can't wait for:
Miss: His kicking & talking to him
Can't wait: To wear normal clothes & for HIM
Also to see who wins the bet - me or Alyson
Weekly Wisdom: Getting a pregnancy massage is sooo relaxing - I highly recommend it!
Milestones/Fun Moments:
*Daycare is confirmed
*Dan installed the carseat/bases
*Got my new camera!
*"Found" a bookshelf from Dave (thanks Dave!)
*Charged the video camera
What we need to do (we're in good shape):
*Finish packing the hospital bag & Dan's bag
*Pack the car!
*Last minute cleaning (sterilizing bottles, etc)

If the heartrate was between 110 and 160 beats per minute, that is still well within normal range even if it was for a long period of time. You might also have been listening to a part of the cord which can have a lower heart rate than if you were right in the middle of his back. What is most important are the periodic increases of the heart rate and they can be slight. A trained ear is the best. 3 accelerations of 15 beats per minute over 15 minutes is a positive non-stress test. But truly can only be seen on a monitor strip if you don't know what to listen for. Be careful with the home monitor it can make you more nervous than you need to be (as I am sure that is what happened). Fetal heart rates vary a lot towards the end of the pregnancy. Movements (however slight) are the best way to judge how a fetus is doing. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy. I am sure he will will a healthy, happy baby boy.
