Stem is on the Apple...
It's official - straight from the mouth of Dan: "the stem is on the apple" (to which he then let me know that it was from Bill Cosby). Lost? Don't worry, so was I at first.
10 people guessed correctly - It is confirmed and there is no question about it - we are having a BOY! I think I'm still in shock - it's definitely a GREAT shock, but shock none-the-less. I think because I wanted a boy so much that I was telling myself "think girl", just in case... and when the technician said BOY, it didn't really sink in. And let me tell you - it took all afternoon to sink in! I'm starting to get really excited.
The ultrasound was just so cool. Our technician, who was super nice & just had her first baby in July, was able to see almost everything, excepting he was chillin' on his back so she couldn't get the greatest view of his spine. We got to see his heart (with a strong heartbeat of 141), saw the brain, kidneys, bladder, & stomach. She looked for each limb for me and we made sure each one had the correct number of fingers & toes. We also got to see the lens of his eye which was so freakin' fantastic. She said he looks fantastic, everything is growing properly and there is no holes or marks where they shouldn't be. She said he weighs 1/2 a pound right now which is right on target. It made us feel really happy & lucky. The best part was when we could see him wiggling around. He would move his arm up near his head and it would make me giggle which would then make the screen shake. When she first showed me where his feet were (on my lower right abdomen) - that's when my mother's intuition kicked in. I had a suspicion that's where he was because that's where I feel the most movement. And at one point she kept moving the wand around to get him to flip and I asked him to and she smiled and said "wow, he's good at listening to you because he's moving a bit". But he didn't want to flip over completely. That boy of ours is just good!
Overall, things couldn't have gone better: We're having our boy - He looks great, he's growing perfectly and best of all - I got the results from my AFP test and it came back normal and the doctor said that the results were fantastic where she's concerned there's no need to worry about spina bifida or downs syndrome. I do have to go back in a few weeks for another ultrasound because they want to have the spine on record but hey I'm all for that - any chance to get a look at the boy, I'll go whenever they want me to!
Without further ado - the thing you're really waiting for... the name & pictures!
The peanut will no longer be known as the peanut but Alexander Christopher!
Introducing Alexander Christopher:
1) First picture is of his face, brain & heart. As I said during the ultrasound, if this wasn't such an miraclous & happy moment, this picture would FREAK me out!

2) Another shot of the face, she just labled the eyes, nose and mouth for us. The black above his eyes is his brain and the black circle on his chest is his heart (with the 4 chambers)

3) A side view of the little one - she couldn't get a good shot of his spine because he was too comfy where he was.

4) Another side shot:
5) The first look we had to see if the peanut was a he...
6) Then she did this view to show us there was no mistaking it. She told us that if we do in fact end up having a girl, we should bring in this picture to the doctor and tell her that we want a refund. :)
